Our Philosophy

The guiding philosophy of Boyz to Men Sober Living is rooted in authenticity, congruence, and self-actualization. Recovery is viewed as a personal journey that requires individuals to move beyond the protective mask of addiction and reconnect with their true selves.

Influenced by Person-Centered Theory and the concept of congruence, the program emphasizes that residents are the experts of their own lives. Staff act as facilitators rather than directors, providing empathy, structure, and support while encouraging residents to discover their unique voice and internal motivation for recovery. The environment prioritizes emotional safety, transparency, accountability, and respect, empowering residents to live purposefully and with integrity in sobriety.

  • Structured Daily Routine: Residents follow a structured daily schedule that includes monitored chores, curfews, and accountability procedures. Curfews are enforced at 10:00 PM Sunday through Thursday and 12:00 AM Friday and Saturday. Accountability is maintained through sign-in/sign-out sheets and group communication platforms.
  • Active Recovery Monitoring: Random drug and alcohol screenings, including breathalyzer testing, are conducted to ensure safety, sobriety, and accountability.
  • Peer Accountability: Mandatory weekly house meetings are held every Sunday at 4:00 PM. These meetings provide a structured forum for goal review, conflict resolution, community concerns, and peer support.
  • Brotherhood and Mentorship: Each new resident is paired with an experienced resident mentor or sponsor to assist with integration, accountability, and connection to recovery supports. Mentors provide guidance regarding daily routines, house expectations, and recovery engagement.
  • Educational Support: Residents are encouraged and supported in obtaining a GED, vocational training, or higher education. Staff assist residents in accessing local educational resources and developing realistic academic goals.
  • Daily Living Skills Development: Residents receive support in budgeting, meal planning, personal hygiene, and household responsibilities through peer modeling, mentorship, and case management support.

FAQs About Our Program

Boyz to Men provides a structured, supportive environment where you can stay sober, build accountability, and develop real-life skills. You’ll live with other men working toward the same goals and have access to clinical support through DeBolt Counseling Services, helping you move toward long-term stability and independence.

We strongly prefer that clients complete a brief detox and have some initial sobriety—ideally around 30 days—before entering the house. However, every situation is unique. After your intake and interview, we’ll determine the safest and most appropriate plan for you, including support through DeBolt Counseling Services if needed.

We do our best to keep everything affordable. Our clinical services are offered on a sliding scale, and Nebraska State Probation vouchers may also be available depending on your situation. Recovery housing is available with a cash option at $160 per week ($640/month) for a shared room. To move in, you only pay the first and last week ($320 total); your final week is already covered when you’re ready to leave. Services may also be covered through Medicaid or Medicare, including clinical support through DeBolt Counseling Services.
